LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

AFTERNOON TRAINING SESSION

Okay, in an attempt to avoid the mental madness we have experienced during the last couple of afternoons, I decided that as soon as it looked like the puppies may be heading that way, we would go out for a big training session.
The pups are definitely responding to their own names now and can often sit when asked, although Lily tends to lose the plot a bit when she smells the yummy morsel that should come her way when she's succeeded in sitting, resulting in her not getting the treat because her bottom has only touched base for a split second and then she's scrabbling to get to the reward.
Lead training still needs a lot of work. It's quite difficult with two little puppies because they get into a terrible tangle and we spend a lot of time working out which lead belongs to which puppy. Then the pups try to chew each others lead. Even more fun is dragging your sister around on her lead when she doesn't want to go. So basically, although they don't mind having their leads on, they haven't really got the idea of walking close to me yet.
I do take a little pot of treats out with me - usually tiny bits of grated cheese - and the pups will follow me when they see the container. Unfortunately today Lily got the upper hand by getting into the treat box while I was disentangling Rose's lead, so that was the end of the treats and therefore the end of any meaningful training because they just wouldn't take it seriously after that!
Oh well, there's always tomorrow!!
