I don't know if I've mentioned them before, but during the past few weeks I've noticed that they do EVERYTHING together! They've lived here longer than we have, and yet we hardly ever speak to them. That's not because we're unfriendly, more a case of not having time to get to know people when we're working. And anyway, they 'keep themselves to themselves' as the saying goes.
From my observation post in the breakfast room I can tell you that they shop together, do the gardening together and even put the bins out together (one opens the gate and the other wheels the bin!) You never see one without the other and it's not as if they're really frail and have to be there in case the other keels over; they're pretty active really.
It's actually quite sweet. But the reason that I'm mentioning them this morning is that for the third day in a row they are out at the front of their house - gardening again. Okay, you might say, what's wrong with that? Well, what puzzles me a bit, is what they can possibly be doing. They have a tiny lawn with a narrow little border (literally no more than ten inches) around two sides and yet this border has kept them occupied for three days! Intriguing!! (Perhaps, when they've finished there, they could go to the house next door to them because nothing EVER gets done in THAT garden!)

It appears on the surface to be pretty simple Mrs Marbles; they're still hopelessly in love and devoted to one another...However it could just be some sort of elaborate charade that one or the other is acting out while secretly plotting to do the other one in. Look for the signs. Ruth has always been stranger than Richard as you know :o)
