Since my last 'feeling sorry for myself' post, everyone has got back home, including Grandma and Richard. Everyone has made a real fuss of Lily and Rose, who were given some lovely new toys! These include a lion and a sheep that jingle when they're shaken, and two glove puppets - a bird and a frog actually, with which Charles and I can scare the living daylights out of the pups!!! Actually the sheep and the lion are really cute and the puppies had great fun with them straightaway. The sheep even looks a bit like the puppies, with a fluffy white body, although the likeness ends there because it has a bright purple face and feet. Now, if the sheep had a BLACK face and feet, I would say it looked EXACTLY like the puppies because, during one unattended moment, they have discovered the joys of digging in the plant pots! They are quite simply filthy, which is a bit of a shame considering the lengthy grooming session, with lavender wash wipes, we had just before Grandma arrived. It's too late for a wash now, they'll just have to stay dirty for tonight.
We sat down to eat at about 7.30 and tried to ignore the puppies who were complaining loudly from their crate. We waited until they went quiet (because we don't want to give in to them when they make a fuss) and then I got their supper. Now, at 9.30 they are snuggled up in their bed. I do have some concerns about how long they will sleep with all the activity in the house tonight, especially as James will coming back from a riotous night in Morpeth at around about midnight and they will no doubt hear him and decide they want to play!
Lily fell sleep first again tonight, and while she settled down I took, Rose outside and just sat on the step with her. She was so cuddly and loved lying on my knee having her very round tummy tickled. It's so nice to be able to spend time with each puppy on their own occasionally.
Okay, everyone else is in the sitting room watching Gran Torino - is that how you spell it? - so I might go through and join them for a bit!

Wonderful film. Clint's last appearance apparently. The Gran Torino was a 1972, which you might recognise from Starsky and Hutch 1975 red with white stripe version. Love that car almost as much as Jim Rockford's 1974 Pontiac Firebird and Steve McQueen's 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 fastback if you remember such stuff from your youth. The pups got a big 50" TV screening for the family tonight through the PS3........clever stuff huh. Sick of the oohs and aahs already
