LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

FACES AT THE WINDOW

You have to be aware that the puppy playground is immediately outside the breakfast room and this is where I spend most of my day. (Not eating breakfast though, which reminds me - I haven't eaten anything this morning, must be time for coffee and a pice of toast.) Anyway, the puppies play outside quite happily MOST  of the time, but when they've exhausted their vast range of toys and have failed in their attempts to get up to other mischief, they come to the window and scrabble against the glass to get my attention.
This probably sounds as if I don't spend time with them outside. In fact I am out there with them most of the time and can usually play with them now instead of following them everywhere with the kitchen roll and poop bags. (Poop is becoming much more manageable these days.)
It's really interesting to watch their play. Lily is still the bravest and will try out any new toys first. Rose is more cautious - she lets Lily try it first and then if it's okay for her she has a go and tries to take it away! If there are two toys exactly the same, they don't have one each, oh no, one remains discarded while the puppies squabble over the other one! Lily is a climber and gets herself into the highest place possible, often getting stuck in the process. Rose is showing her terrier traits and can maul a kitchen roll to death within minutes.
The inside of the house (or the part to which the pups are restricted) has become something of a racetrack. They run and skid around the utility room, breakfast room and kitchen, calling a temporary truce only when they need a drink of water. This is funny as well - one puppy goes for a drink and the other immediately realises SHE is thirsty too. Cue loud slurping and lapping sounds!
However, the chasing and high jinks instantly cease when I start to get their meals ready. My girls sit and watch and wait patiently until their bowls are ready, and then they do lose the plot a bit as they fall over themselves in their excitement to see what tasty morsels they're having today. They're like little hoovers and very rarely leave anything in the bowl. We've managed to stop Rose trying to finish Lily's food, but when both bowls are empty the puppies like to check each other's out just in case a tiny scrap has been missed!!
