Young At Heart

LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

OH DEAR!

It is not quite 8.30 and the puppies have already decided that they have had enough for one day and have turned in.
I know them well enough by now to know that this is IT for the night, but I'm undecided about whether to wake them for a wee in about an hour or to leave them and hope they don't make too much mess in the night.
When they go to bed at about 10.00 they are usually dry in the morning. Any earlier to bed and they will struggle. But I always think it's a bit of a setback to their housetraining when they have to go in the house.
Having said that the puppy training books all seem to stress that puppies have no control until they are about 16 weeks and that it can take until they are 6 - 7 months old before they are fully reliable.
I think the girls are doing really well. They are having less 'accidents' each day and Rose took herself outside for a wee this afternoon without having to be reminded. (She found it much easier to get out quickly now that the duckboard is there to help her.)
During their bonkers time earlier, Christina came round and gave me a hand. It really is so much easier when there are two puppies, if there are two humans to play with them. Also, when it comes to calming down time, each puppy can be brushed or fussed gently until they settle again.
During the very short and clearly, to her, disappointing, conversation I had with my mum this afternoon she asked me if I was glad that I had got the puppies. I replied a million times 'yes' because they are both such lovely characters and are just a joy to be around. (Obviously I didn't really say 'yes' a million times because a) I'd still be saying it now, b) I'd lose count and have to start again and c) she would have put the phone down on me long ago just in case she missed the call she was really waiting for FROM MY BROTHER!)
I tell you what, I really hope he HAS rung her,  because, if he hasn't she'll be beside herself by now!
