Well obviously because it's dark, but it is also dark when they get up, so that doesn't really have any bearing on it.
It's like when we were kids and we were up late as a treat, maybe there were visitors, and we really wanted to be there in case we missed anything, but we were also desperate to get to sleep.
Well that's how it seems to be for the puppies tonight.
They are really struggling to stay awake - and they haven't made a single sound since they woke up! Both of them are playing quiet, solitary games as though they really can't be bothered with each other but need to keep themselves occupied. Perhaps it's the puppy version of reading in bed.
Or maybe, they think that if they keep really quiet I won't notice them and they'll get to stay up really late - just like kids again! (Just as long as they don't start fancying a midnight feast!)
LILY & ROSE
Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!
