Does anyone know if Starbursts used to be called Opal Fruits and, if so, what was actually wrong with calling them Opal Fruits?
I only ask because I found some in my bag earlier and can't actually remember thinking, 'Oh there are some Starbursts, I'll get them.' instead I probably thought, 'Oh those look like Opal Fruits, I like them' - and then discovered that some eurobeaurocrat who has nothing better to do has renamed them, either that or they've just been rebranded to try to make them more appealing. Personally, I liked them better when they were Opal Fruits 'cos they didn't mess with the flavours too much. You used to get orange, strawberry, lime and blackcurrant, I think or was it lemon? Now you get all sorts of exotic flavours like pineapple and mango or combinations like rhubarb and custard. Actually, the more I think about it maybe Starbursts are not the new Opal Fruits at all and are probably something completely different.
And what about Marathons? Who decided that 'Snickers' was a better name?
