Because no sooner had I wished they would wake up, than they did!
Lily and Rose have eaten a good lunch with not a scrap left in their bowls and are now outside waiting for the call of nature which usually comes within ten minutes!!
I'm sitting and watching them and also looking out for the postman who usually arrives at about this time. Not that I'm expecting any post, or nothing interesting anyway, it's just that I worry about them making a break for it because he doesn't close the gate until he's actually put the post in the letter box, so the puppies would potentially have about an eight second time frame to make good their escape. In fairness, I don't suppose they would really want to escape because they have a very good life here, but I'm sure their curiosity could get the better of them and once they got to the end of the drive, there's no knowing where they would go. Worst nightmare: both puppies escape and Lily turns left and Rose goes right. AAAARGH! WHICH WAY WOULD I GO?!
(That could almost be a bit like Sophie's Choice in the film of that name, except, for anyone who hasn't seen it, Sophie had to choose which of her two children she would save from the gas chambers during the war. To begin with you think her choice is going to be about the two men in her life, but as the film unfolds you realise it is about the worst choice a mother could ever have to make. Obviously, Lily and Rose escaping and going their separate ways would not really be comparable, but I still wouldn't know which way to turn if they did.)
