I love this time in the evening. The puppies have worn themselves out chasing each other liked crazed things, they've taken themselves outside for wees and poops and now they're enjoying the quiet mostly solitary play that precedes bedtime.
They had a bit of a fallout earlier when I could only find one chewy bone. I was hoping (silly me!) that they might take it in turns, but the girls haven't yet grasped the concept of sharing, so we had serious ructions for a while. They are, however, now passing the bone between them and also sharing a teether and are happily exchanging these, so maybe they have agreed to put their differences to one side for now. Although they are making these exchanges, they are still maintaining their distance from each other which has become part of the bedtime ritual.
It's funny watching their play slow down as they become more tired, until they get to the point where they just can't be bothered any more and give in to sleep.
Charles got home about two hours ago. The puppies went berserk when they saw him, but took no notice whatsoever of the new vehicle. He kept saying, 'But look, I've bought you a new car!' but they weren't at all impressed! (That's gratitude for you!) I've only had a quick look, but there seems to be masses of space and a dog guard as well, so we're good to go girls!!
