...that makes me laugh about the puppies, is the difference in their ability to learn! Rose, bless her, tries really hard to learn everything we are teaching her and usually gets the idea really quickly. She watches everything we do really carefully and clearly want to please us by doing what we expect. Lily, on the other hand, only does as she's told when she absolutely has to. It takes her a little longer to get the idea and even then she appears to have great difficulty taking her training seriously! For example, although both puppies are great at sitting and waiting for their meals or a treat, Lily kind of loses the plot a bit when the reward is about to be given to her. Rose sits beautifully until she gets the treat or the bowl is put in front of her. Lily reminds me of donkey at the end of Shrek when he's jumping up and down yelling, 'Pick me! Pick me!' Rose has pretty much got to grips with the 'down' command, but Lily hasn't got a clue! Perhaps we need to give Lily some extra lessons on her own.
Lily lives her live at a hundred miles an hour - everything she does is full on - until she collapses exhausted and just wants a cuddle before she goes to sleep. Rose takes everything a little bit more gently, partly because she's not quite as confident as Lily, but also because she just has a really sweet nature. She loves her cuddles too, but not to the extent that Lily does.
I am so glad that they are completely different. It certainly makes life very interesting!!
