I had a quick(ish) trip into Gosforth to the DVLA office this morning and got the numbers changed over, then called in at our local garage to get the plates made up. Another call to the insurers (£20 fee to change your number though) and away we go. Quite straightforward and not too time consuming at all.
Talking of our local garage - this is owned by a real character called Dennis. Dennis is brill! (Almost as brill as David the Meerkat in the village shop) Dennis has problems pronoucing the letter 'R' which has been something of a drawback ('Dwawback' if you're Dennis) to him over the years, especially as he began by stocking Polaris Tractors from Russia, then moved onto Isuzu Troopers and Subaru Imprezzas! (Just try saying those as if you are Dennis. You've got to admire the man!!!)
Anyway, like I said, Dennis is bwill!!
