Another thing about having little puppies in the house, is that you have to cultivate a SLOW MOTION WALK.
To be honest, this is probably forced on you due to having the lovely little creatures permanently attached to your legs, but even when they're not, you have to take care all the time that you DON'T STEP ON THEM.
I have now learned to move in a very different way. I lift one leg and look down before positioning it, then lift the trailing leg slowly, so as not to attract the unwanted attention of the pups by making a sudden movement that could appear to be an attempt at play, before placing that ahead of the first foot. Sometimes, if the movement is VERY slow, I need to use my arms for balance, giving the effect of a tightrope walker combined with the slo-mo bit in Chariots of Fire.
This is the most effective way of moving around your puppies and needs quite a bit of practice to perfect. The slightly unnerving thing, is that you sometimes find yourself doing the same walk when you are out of the house and not even in the vicinity of the puppies. This is NOT desirable, as it just makes you look like a rather strange, demented person and people in, for example the supermarket, are likely to ask, 'Are you alright dear, would you like a chair? Is there someone looking after you?'
