...the damn box is so heavy and huge that I can't actually unpack it!
Of course I'm talking about the Kenwood, which arrived ON A TROLLEY this afternoon and after much puffing and blowing, the delivery man staggered across the kitchen and managed to get it onto the top of the range (at MY request admittedly), only now I can't lift it down to get a look inside, nor can I use the hotplates to start getting a meal ready!!!!
So, hurry home Charles, cos I can't wait to get into that box! (which I probably could do quite literally!)
I've just thought - it'll make a fabulous playhouse for the puppies! They haven't had a good strong cardboard box for ages, since the days when Rose would have been petrified by it. I wonder how she'll react this time?
To kill the time, I'm waiting for the World Cup draw, which should take place any minute.
I've had a chat with James and he is, obviously, more than happy to go to the football tomorrow in my place. I'll see what Charles says when he gets home - AFTER he's helped me with the box that is!

Sounds like it's going to be capable of processing a whole side of beef in just one press. Better hope the knives are by sabatier and the motor by BMW eh? Just think of the batches of chilli, bolognese and moussaka you'll be able to knock out. I'd advise you to order a new chest freezer for the shed or get another extension built and perhaps reconsider that pressure cooker/s to maximise its potential. Speaking of potential did you, as a headteacher of some standing ever worry about the phrase "reaching or achieving his/her potential"...I did. I was never really comfortable with it because I never knew what it meant. Not really. How does one measure potential in a human being? And if one can't how does one know when it's been reached? Mind you I also had a problem with the phraseology regarding targets. How do you achieve a target? targets are reached, hit or missed not achieved. Objectives are achieved are they not? And if you reach a target you can still be wide of it..........isn't that so? Does it matter? Do bears poop in the woods? If a tree falls in the forest and there's noone there to hear it does it make a ...........oh look what a great group England has drawn
ReplyDelete543 posts and at last I'm given the responsibility of writing some random thoughts on the blog!
ReplyDeleteIt's the long suffering Charles here just in case you were wondering who it was that is typing this bit!
I think I should point out to the people who know me and read this blog that some of Sue's views (of me) are wide of the mark. I'm sure she see's me as some sort of caricature of myself and I'm sort of hoping that those very same people are thinking 'Humph! She must be making this up! It doesn't sound anything like the Charles I know!'
Now the important bits...
There isn't any more room in the shed for a chest freezer even though Sue thinks we need one. We don't need one. It'd just get filled up with stuff that we'd never get round to eating and in reality it would become a 'holding pen' for stuff that needs to go in the bin! Our existing freezer is actually like this now! As are the store cupboards. What is it they say about daughters growing into their mothers? Mmmmmmm?
The Kenwood is a bit of a beast. If you're thinking of shelling out for one in the next couple of weeks then make sure you get it from Amazon because I've done the research and it is the best price around. Almost £200 less than COMET!
England's World Cup Draw was an interesting one and to be instantly 3rd favourites to win for the first time since I was 10 years old is maybe over egging it a little.
We just play too much football of the wrong type. We need shorter seasons with fewer matches and more tournament football over time limited periods.
Talking of football; Jim has just bounded in after his 3rd football night of the week! He's been playing since he was 6 I think and life would have a huge slice missing from it if he had to give up playing!
On a totally different note; I'm delighted that Sue is enjoying herself in retirement so much. Getting Lily & Rose and writing this blog has been the perfect outlet for getting 'work at school' out of the internal clock and other things into it! She's a happier person for it, and so am I! I think things are looking good for Sue getting into a happy pattern of life that I can 'slot into' at the end of July 2011!
"All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his." Quick Sue you need to take urgent action. I suspect your blog has been hijacked by Oscar Wilde...
ReplyDeleteToo right I do Dannymatt.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you leave him alone for five minutes and look at the result!
In my defence - every word I write on here is the truth and nothing but. I always consider very carefully what I write - and Charles may have a shock should he ever decide to cary out a family consultation into this!!!
Charles has no idea about the contents of the freezer or the store cupboards. He is just aware that there is no room to squeeze in another current at the moment. I admit this and, yes, there is an element of my Mother's siege mentality about it, but one thing's for sure - no one will ever go hungry in this house!
