LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

WHY IS IT...

... that in the mornings and the early part of the afternoon the pups are absolutely adorable, but by about 4.30 every day they have turned into the puppies from hell?

  1. Lack of exercise after they wake up??? May be they need to burn off some energy and this is the way they do it? May be they are becoming doggie teenagers???

  2. You're probably right about the lack of exercise in an evening. I'm sure if we wore them out they wouldn't have the energy to misbehave.
How's Maggie doing now. I know you were pretty upset about her the other day and just wondered if there was any improvement, or what the prognosis is?

  3. Yes,I was upset, sorry for that "public" outpouring. She's okay in herself, and there is a slight improvement, its just a sad thing really in a young dog. There are worse things however and I should keep it in perspective. The problem I have is when I see her eye half closed and clearly irritating her and she's unable to clear it in a dog way. She very meek and accepting when it comes to the drops and the artificial tears, unfortunately there has been some damage to her eye though it remains to be seen how bad when she revisits the vet this week. We are rather worried that she will lose the sight in one or both eyes but hopeful that this will be later rather than sooner. Having said all that she was running all over the hill and through the deepest mud this morning in the persisting rain and celebrated by rolling in something that had recently been deposited by another much larger (I presume) dog. So I guess from her point of view it's Situation Normal. Little bitch.....I think she's taking advantage of me

  4. I'm sure she is!!!
Actually, her eye condition sounds a little bit like mine. I have lost most of the sight in my left eye through a virus that has attacked the cornea. As I only have 6/20 vision in my right eye, this isn't good, although at least that one can be corrected by lenses. I can commiserate with her!

  5. Yes its damage to the cornea I'm afraid......that was the word I was looking for. Come to think of it though, she would look rather fetching in a pair of designer Westie specs. Persol perhaps? Oh God she's heard me making light of her condition and she's come over to sit between my knees, looking up with ears back and a one eye winking, hang dog expression enough to make me want to let her sleep on my pillow. Poor little bean. Or is she banking on the fact that I've forgotten this morning's long relaxing roll in the big dog's sloppy poo?
