I've just had the vet on the phone and all this neutering business sounds horrendous.
The vet went through all the positives and negatives, most of which we knew anyway, although apparently there is a very real risk of weight gain and a possibility of some incontinence.
She described the surgical procedure in enough detail to make me cringe and curl my toes in horror. She talked about the benefits of doing it pre and post first season. And then she explained about recuperation and after care.
Apparently we are going to have to keep them quiet and ON A LEAD IN THE HOUSE for a fortnight.
How the hell do we keep these two quiet and not let them get excited? I honestly can't imagine it at all.
While she was talking I was trying very hard to be positive about it all, but now I'm filled with all sorts of doubt.
Oh and just as a matter of interest, it'll cost just over £300 to have them both done!

The vet is probably right to err on the side of caution although Maggie was fine after two days She was separated from Isla most of the time and of course we didn't let her do any ironing or chores :o/
