A beacon of hope!!
This has been a very calm morning, largely because the girls have slept a lot, but also, and most significantly, because when they WERE woken up by the bin lorry (Hurray - only four weeks of kitchen waste to take away!) they DID NOT bark and growl frantically as they usually do, nor did they get themselves so over-excited that they ended up at each other's throats. Instead we continued the practice of 'no bark' and they managed it perfectly.
I've just been outside with them where there were all sorts of noises going on around them. Normally they would have barked like crazy - but not a sound today. They kept looking at me as if to say, 'Is THIS what you want us to do, Mum?'
So, I know it's just one day (well, one morning really) but I think if I keep persevering we'll get through this.
The B TEST today will be the arrival of the postman! Watch this space!!!
