Young At Heart

LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

9.30am

Okay - things are progressing much better than I anticipated. Both pups are moving with relative ease now and we haven't had to give them any of the painkilling meds that we brought home from the surgery yesterday.
We have to take them back tomorrow morning to have their wounds checked - bet they won't like going back THERE!
Charles is going to pop into school later on for a Family Fun Day! On his way back he's going to stop off to buy some babies tee shirts. This is NOT a case of us getting really silly - but yesterday the nurse recommended buying some cheap ones that we can cut to puppy shape, keeping their wounds covered until they're properly healed.
I'm quite shocked at the length of the incisions. I had expected them to be about two inches long - but they are actually closer to FOUR. That's pretty long really when you think about the size of the pups little tummies.
I guess that our biggest problem during the next few days is going to be keeping them calm and preventing them from chasing around too much. Rose honestly doesn't seem aware of any pain. Lily however is still much more economical in her movements and is moving much more carefully than her sister.
All in all though, they are making far better progress than I ever anticipated. Dannymatt DID say this would be the case, but I confess to not really believing him. For that I apologise and bow to far greater experience!

  1. Aw shucks....don't like to say I told you so but.......I....T shirts???? Offers to sleep on the kitchen bl**dy floor? You know.....there was a time when men were men and dogs were, well, dogs and ....well....okay, so I don't really know where I'm going with this....but, you know...phew! Don't know who's more relieved, thee or me.

The diary is good. Meticulous. I like that. Kept your mind off things too, for a while I'd guess, at a crucial time; and of course when its written from the worried heart like it is, it means that much more in retrospect. Don't it?
