Young At Heart

LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

HEIGHT CHART

When Christina and James were kids, we used to monitor their growth by marking their height against the side of the kitchen door.
I tell you this because we now have a puppy version of the height chart - but it's not what you might think!
Before we had the pups, we had the kitchen extended into the garage and had a floor to ceiling wine rack put into the new breakfast room that had been created in the space.
It is this wine rack that has become the puppy height chart. I began by realising that I would need to remove the lowest bottles when they were just babies and have continued to remove more bottles as they have grown. The puppies now measure five bottles tall when they are stretching up on their hind legs! Of course this probably doesn't sound much, but each bottle fits into a little cubbyhole about twice the height of the actual bottle, plus there's a plinth to take into account, but nevertheless it's a good way of keeping a check on their growth!
I'm telling you this because this morning I found some little bits of pink foil on the floor and realised that a) they had been chewed b) they came from a rather nice bottle of Palacio de Montasud and c) they were now able to reach the bottles on the next level. A little worrying because it would only be a matter of time before the bottle reached the floor with a resounding smash, resulting in two inebriated pups splashing around in the vino and broken glass.
So we are now storing our wine in the utility room and the wine rack is gradually filling up with an ever increasing range of puppy toys!
