On STANDBY @ JFK!

Well, we've had THE craziest of days friends! Up early, breakfast at an amazing cafe a few steps down 7th Ave from our hotel. After filling up on chocolate chip pancakes (Jim) and french toast (Sue & Charles) we slow stepped it down to Maddison Park near the 'Flatiron" building where we were on 'event horizon' metal Gormley jumper watch!

I think we spotted them all but one was impossible to photograph because of the light conditions. Sue refused to take my picture whist nonchalantly hiding one of the 'grounded' statues' modesty with my hand!

As you can see, we do have Ivor Bollockov captured for posterity though with the old (and rusty) 'meat and two veg' out for all to see!

I'm trying to work out why Sue is smiling in the photo with 'Iron man' here... 

I guess some things just bring a smile to a girls face?

A bit more shopping followed for us all - these sales have been too hard to resist!

Then it was across town to a multiplex cinema to catch the first day showing of 'Kick Ass'! James and Charles enjoyed it and Sue tolerated it...

Oh! Forgot to mention that we had to pack up and move to another room today as well. Dropped just 8 floors to the 18th (from 26th out of 28). Nice room. Smaller bedroom with the biggest bed I've ever seen, bigger lounge, smaller kitchen and only one bathroom (en-suite to bedroom).

We settled in and unpacked - well, truth be told, Charles unpacked and Sue and Jim said they'd live out of their suitcase for the rest of the trip! I settled down to checking e-mails etc. only to find info on the BA site saying our flight was leaving tonight and going to Glasgow!

SO - we tried to speak to someone at BA - no luck whatsoever here! Can't wait to hear their excuses for their NON-EXISTENT communication!

Packed, explained all to hotel staff, jumped into a limo and arrived over an hour later at JFK to be told we were not booked onto the flight BUT would be placed on STANDBY!!!!

So here we all sit, waiting to find out IF we are going to fly! If we do - great! We'll hire a car and drive from Glasgow back home. If we're bumped off - OK! We'll jump in a cab back to the hotel!

At least we tried...
