I don't know if it goes faster for me because I'm a Lady of Leisure (!!!) or if it would have been the same if I'd still been at work, but whatever it is I can't believe the way time whizzes past. It's Friday again, the weekend awaits and there's only two weeks to go until the schools break up for half term.
As of now, we have no plans for the weekend, although if the weather is okay I'm guessing that a long walk on the beach at Alnmouth might be on the cards, along with some gardening and a trip to Heighley Gate to buy perennials to fill the gaps left by the plants that didn't survive the winter.
James will be coming on Sunday, calling in on his way to Aberdeen to begin a month of training with the Big Boys from the Sub Sea Division at the Pentagon office there. He's planning to come home at weekends and, although he's going to drive up and down for a couple of weeks he will be flying home for the Bank Holiday weekend. He had hoped to fly each weekend, but the costs are prohibitive, so he'll be taking about ten hours out of his weekend to do the drive instead.
I think he's really looking forward to the training and it will certainly add another string to his bow. It's sure to be very different from the sort of work he's doing at the moment.
Following our unfortunate incident with the mouse, James and Dunc (his flatmate) think they also have a little visitor in the loft at their apartment. Is it the time of year for mice to come inside? I would have thought they did that during the winter really. In any event, Charles has removed the traps from the cupboard under the sink as we haven't found anything in them for two days now. I'll keep a watchful eye out for the tell-tale signs and Charles has promised to seal up the gap surrounding the waste pipe below the kitchen window as he thinks that is the route the ex-mouse took on his last fateful journey.
Okay - the girls have had their early walk, courtesy of Charles and are ready for breakfast. Once that's out of the way I expect we'll go out again (as soon as the rain stops!) and then the day stretches out before us just waiting to be filled!!
