Dannymatt got me thinking about some of the old Monty Python sketches.
Does anyone remember the Election Special with Kevin Philips-Bong from the Slightly Silly party and Tarquin Fin-Tim-Lim-Bim-F'tang-F'tang-Biscuitbarrel from the Silly Party.
Which one scored 'No votes at all, not one, in fact b****r all!'?

Kevin Phillips Bong was the slightly silly candidate who polled no votes at all. Now he's wheeled on as sub for Birmingham City occasionally.
ReplyDeleteJethro Q. Bunn Whackett Buzzard Stubble and Boot Walrustitty the silly candidate. The unofficial Very Silly candidate, in the slab of concrete, who split the silly vote at Harpenden Southeast. Mrs Elsie Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... oh yes...
The little pink pussy-cat that took Barrow-in-Furness ... a gain from the Liberals. Arthur Negus who held Bristols ...not a result, just a piece of gossip and a small piece of putty about that big, a cheese mechanic from Dunbar and two frogs ... one called Kipper the other not ....who all went "Ni ni ni ni ni ni!" in Blackpool Central.
Yes it was beginning to look like a Silly landslide....art imitating life....if only eh?
Hook, line and sinker!
ReplyDeleteReel him in!!
F'tang-F'tang-Ole-Biscuitbarrel I think it was........why do we remember these trivial bits of information? I mean, why is Ole something that I would spot that is missing? Quite sad really. However, come the revolution sister, we'll all be wiser. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Say no more guv....Breakaway?!?

Wow - TAKK for that Dannymatt!!
ReplyDeleteRichard - it's because we were so immersed in that culture at the time that it is firmly embedded in our memory. How did I forget the Ole and the fact that the emphasis was on the BONG Kevin Philips- BONGGGGG!
ReplyDeleteRevolution - hmmm, we'll see!
