Being woken by two noisy little pups at 5.45am is not a good thing!
I've got that horrible feeling that you only ever get when you've got to get up in the small hours to go to the airport to wait two hours for the six o'clock flight.
This is despite having a relatively early night. Actually, it wasn't as early as I'd planned as I ended up watching the Leicester/Cardiff penalties (God - that Leicester player who took the fourth pen will be Public Enemy Number One in that neck of the woods) and then did the Tesco shop online. When I DID go to bed I read until about 1.30, hoping to finish 'Keeping Faith' but got to the point where my eyelids let me down with only about ten pages to go. (I HATE doing that. Ten pages are nothing, and will be read in no time, but are hardly worth settling down for. The thing is that even so close to the end, I have absolutely no idea how the plot (about a seven year old girl whose imaginary friend is God and who becomes stigmatic) will turn out and I want to be totally uninterrupted as the story unfolds. There's nothing worse than trying to read the last few pages of a gripping book, only to be interrupted by the phone, or someone trying to talk to you - or by pups wanting attention. So I shall have to choose my time carefully!)
Meanwhile Charles had retired to bed, where he is even now, blissfully unaware that the girls are bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready for a fun-filled day! (Actually, he's probably VERY aware and has used his selective deafness to full advantage!)
6.55: Ah ha! He's just got up, looking very sheepish and pretending he didn't hear the happy barks and yaps over an hour ago!! Hmmm! You'll be taking them for the first walk today then Charles!
