We had a fab walk on the beach this morning, getting there really early so we had most of it to ourselves for quite a while. The girls had a brilliant time, in and out of the water, sniffing the seaweed, chasing each other around on their long leads. The dogs they did encounter posed no problem at all and the girls greeted them politely with a bit of bottom sniffing as dogs do.
Leaving Alnmouth we went to Alnwick to do some shopping and have a coffee, then returned home to do the chores (includng filling the gap around the downpipe where we think the mouse got in), at which point James rang and invited himself for lunch. After that Jim and I went to Next at Kingston Park cos he wanted some new trousers for work (and it gave me an opportunity to get some new tops for the, hopefully, better weather). We got back to find Charles ensconsed in front of the telly waiting for the FA Cup Final to begin and I cleaned the patio while the pups had a bit of a doze.
We're going to try moving things around outside and getting the BBQ away from the troublespot by the fence - but obviously I'll have to wait for the match to finish as Charles wouldn't appreciate the interruption. (Chelsea have just scored after Portsmouth messed up their penalty. I would have liked to see Pompey winactually after the season they've had. Just out of interest, has a team ever won the FA cup and been relegated at the same time?)
Thank you to Richard and Dannymatt for your extremely helpful suggestions about how to solve the Dogs Next Door Problem. I really appreciate your help and am comforted by the great seriousness and consideration you have both brought to the issue!
