We have two beautifully white Westies, having had a very quick bathtime this evening. It's amazing how quickly we can do a shampoo and blow dry, when the pups have got no hair to speak of! Technically of course that's not true - they do indeed have hair, in fact Lily looks great now and I wouldn't mind her looking like this all the time, but Rose still looks like a little shorn lamb so she's going to take a few weeks to catch up.
I think they both really enjoy bathtime - they certainly never complain, although they do get a bit jealous when we are drying the other one and giving them lots of 'attention'!
We had a go at tackling the fence problem again this evening. I got Charles to move the barbeque that was standing up against it and on which the girls would position themselves ready to defend their territory from the dreaded labs and we took loads of treats with us, before using Cesar Millan's technique for 'owning' the fence. The fence effectively became our space and the pups were not allowed into it. When they stayed away they were given treats and in a relatively short time they forgot about the fence and played around quite happily.
I think we're always going to have something of a problem if the labs are out at the same time as the pups, because naturally they want to defend their territory and the girls want to do the same - but hopefully we'll get to a stage where each party is tolerant of the other - a bit like the Condems then!
