... or what?
Charles has gone off to school, bearing two plate of goodies for the staff.
One is a plate of chocolate fridge cake bars and the other, rocky road bars.
Both of these were made at the weekend, using the Hummingbird Cafe recipes. I think I did mention how incredibly indulgent they are and I know I commented on the vast amount of chocolate that goes into the rocky road. That aside, I followed the recipes faithfully, or as faithfully as i could without my scales.
The ingredients for the fridge bars are: butter, syrup, cocoa, biscuit pieces and raisins. The rocky road contains chocolate, mars bars, marshmallows, maltesers, apricots, raisins and cornflakes.
All very fattening, but extremely yummy.
Except that Charles, in his wisdom, just before taking the two plates this morning, said that perhaps it would have been a better idea to put some of the rocky road ingredients into the fridge bars!
Why? What's wrong with them? I was only following the recipes. Don't you like them? And if you don't, why are you eating them and sharing them with your staff? Should I not bother making them again? Could you do better? Should I never make anything else again? Don't you think those very clever people at the Hummingbird Cafe might just know what they're doing?
So, in short - why did I bother? Make them yourself in future.

Yes, you're being touchy. But understandably so. I blame the England side which checked into a private terminal to avoid the press et al. Whatever happened to public accountability and following a recipe verbatim I say?
