LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

Cakes a go go!

'LISTLESS'

The more I look at it, the more I wonder if it really IS a word.
I was going to say that last night I was really listless in that 'I don't know where I want to be and my legs aren't comfortable wherever I put them' sort of way. But then I thought about the word - listless. I understand it in the context of not being able to settle to anything comfortably BUT what is the opposite of 'listless'? The only thing I can think of is 'listing' ie 'the boat was listing in the strong wind' but I don't see how that fits. Just wondering, that's all.

  1. It's an excellent question. In nautical terms I think I might prefer my boat to be listless: unless the term comes from a time when boats depended on the winds alone and it was not good to be listless....as in becalmed. Then again, sail boats don't exactly list do they?..They lean into the wind when tacking, and back into the water in full sail. The image I have of a listing boat is the shark damaged Orca in Jaws or the Poseidon hit port side by a freak wave or Titanic slowly sinking. (Not even Leo could save that) Actually....do boats list backwards? Or is it only to one side like a badly loaded cargo boat? The answer is....I don't know... and I want to now...but thanks for taking my mind of this afternoon's game anyway.

Actually I think the opposite of "listless" is "listful" ...what do you think?

  2. I think listful is an excellent word - and one that should be used more often.
Bet your mind's on the match now though!!
