If you haven't seen it...
... go out and get it!
Charles and I watched it this evening. It was a fascinating documentary and just the right thing to be watching before the World Cup begins.
You forget about all the hooliganism in the 90s and the dreadful reputation our fans had abroad. I certainly hadn't realised the extent to which Bobby Robson was vilified by the press - probably because in those days football wasn't something that particularly interested me. And watching Gazza and his heartbreak at the end of the England/West Germany semi-final was well - heartbreaking.
But the thing that really got me is that it highlights just how fickle we are as a nation when it comes to giving our support to the country's team. When things go wrong, how quickly do we do them down and start braying for blood - and what further damage does it do to already fragile confidence? And yet one good game and they're the best thing since sliced bread.
Anyway - go out and buy this DVD and watch it before next Saturday - you won't regret it
