AND SURE ENOUGH...

... after hours of fruitless searching for battery chargers last night, as soon as I mention to Charles that he, in fact, must have been the last person to have it, he goes to find a bag of stuff we had in New York - and there they are! Why didn't you do that before I turned the house upside down last night, I wonder.

    You didn't ask perhaps? I only risk this controversy because I had to learn to read my ex's mind. She was gentle and she was kind but there were times she may not have known exactly what was on her mind....but I sure as hell had to know.

    Actually Mr Smartypants, he DID know all about it last night and even joined in the search. That is to say, he opened and then immediately closed the front of the bureau claiming from this single second scan that it wasn't there. (Like most men (and NO I'm not afraid of stereotyping here) if the object that's being searched for doesn't sit up and yell, 'Here I am, come and get me.' Charles is programmed not to find anything, ever.
    He even left me going through my drawers (!) and retired to bed with the words, 'Don't spend too long looking.'
    It was only when I told him this morning that he was the only person who had used the damn thing that he recollected the carrier bag containing all the leads, plugs and chargers that we'd used in NY. And, as if by magic, there they were, contentedly muttering, Thank God we've been found, we thought we were doomed to stay in that bag forever. Thank you so much Charles'.
    And another thing - we STILL have a gift for you so we need to meet up with you soon - although when you see what it is you'll realise that actually there's no real hurry!!
