Just thought I'd better mention Lily and Rose as this blog is,of course, mostly about them with a bit of other random stuff thown in from time to time.
The pups have had a fabulous day today. They've trotted around Belsay Gardens, sniffing at the flower beds, hiding under the ferns and rhododendrons, climbing up and down the steps to the house and castle, tiptoeing through the quarry garden where they were dwarved by the gigantic and almost tropical planting. They've walked for miles and have enjoyed every minute of it!
And it goes without saying that we've also walked miles today! We needed to build up our strength by having lunch in the Blacksmith's Cafe, which was delicious, but since the last time we were there, although it has been extended, they've tried to cram far too many tables in, resulting in everything being rather too cramped and a bit uncomfortable.
After that we drove home via Rothbury, where we stopped to admire the shops. (!) It's like stepping back in time thirty years really, although Bill reckons that this is what life should be like as opposed to the break-neck, high-fashion, credit-based society we unfortunately live in in the real world.
