... but not by the girls.
I think it must have been a bird - but not a bird I've ever heard before. It's difficult to describe the sound, but it was an extremely loud, shriek type squawk that went on for ages. It almost sounded as if the bird was having a panic attack. Certainly it was enough to wake ME up, and shortly after the girls were disturbed as well. (You'll notice Charles doesn't feature in the list of those whose sleep was abbreviated! Only when he'd got up in his own time did he ask,'What was that noise this morning? Was it outside or inside?' Well Charles, if it had been INSIDE don't you think it would have been a good idea to rush up and investigate?)
So, we're up and about. The washing's on, the house is cleaned and the girls have had their meds. They've had a gentle walk with Charles and there's been only minimal sneezing so far. In fact, in direct contrast to yesterday, they seem full of energy and mischief this morning, despite the interruption to their beauty sleep.
I forgot to mention that while we were at the vets, we popped the girls on the scales and discovered that Lily weighs in at 7.70kg and Rose came in just slightly under at 7.35. So still not a huge difference, which came as a bit of a surprise as I had expected Lily to weigh considerably more than her sister. Lily is much broader around the shoulders than Rose and feels much more solid - so much so that James calls her "Chunk", reinforcing Charles's opinion that Rose is the pretty one and Lily is the butch one!!!
