Well, we went into Morpeth at lunchtime and discovered that the A697 was still only just passable. Even the main road in Morpeth town centre was lethal and there was little evidence that a plough had been through.
I must admit we began to doubt the sense of making the journey at all, but fortunately, by the time we'd got warmed up with a coffee in Costa and finished our shopping, there was some slight improvement in the conditions.
We've spent a quiet afternoon just mooching about the house, praying that the next predicted snowfall by-passes us.
I've had another order for a Christmas cake this evening. I'm really pleased about this as I thoroughly enjoy doing them. It certainly satisfies my creative streak! Tomorrow I'll make a large number of sugarpaste cutouts ready to dry out before I need them for the cakes.
Looking forward to a relaxed evening in front of the telly now.

Relaxed? I've only just got in from Asda which closed at 22:00 even though it says Open 24 hours a day...I mean...what's that all about eh? (Not much of a quantum leap)But don't you just love this X-Factor bullplop eh? Let's face it...none of it means squat....and yet the nation is (allegedly) gripped. The show is masterfully produced, pitifully populated and ultimately doomed. Matt is a very good singer...but so the hell what? I won't buy it! Will anyone? "One Direction" (ie Harry)simply butter(s) Cathy's muffin...and there's not a lot wrong with that either... but....well...I'm bored. I want the new Marc or David. It's never going to happen here. Well she's my woman of gold, and she's not very old ah ha ha...wow I've just slipped back to an art class at Ashington Grammar school 1970 where Ged McPhail has blown allcomers away with his sketch of Neil and Buzz on the moon while the Deputy Head lets us listen to T.Rex. Cessford was a very cool cat, but sadly allowed the cover of Aqualung by Jethro Tull to be exhibited as an original work by Michael Wren at "o" level. some years later. Was he just too old? Too cool? Too....well... disinterested? How could he not recognise that rip off..... and immediately id my copy of a Sunday Times mag image of Richard Nixon as a steam iron? That peed me off in regal fashion for many years (40 actually). Is it time I grew up?
