... that my brother-in-law got home from work tonight, to find that his house had been burgled.
What sick sort of person does that?
I feel so sorry for them. (Richard and sarah, not the burglars - they should have their hands cut off)
Welcome to the daily diary of Lily & Rose, the West Highland White Terriers. The Blog begins from them being 4 weeks old!
What sort of a person does that? Er... a burglar I should imagine... as glamourised by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. I'm not making light of it you understand...for the very same thing happened to us while I lived in Blyth and the feelings we had were of having been violated and what we could only describe as uncleanliness. Not sure about Sharia Law either, although at the time...we did want to cut more than their hands off. Its a bit like capital punishment don't you think...it isn't the most civilised thing to condone or support unless, of course it directly affects you and yours...and then. sure as eggs is eggs you'd pull the trigger or flick the switch yourself (and justify it by saying that any other way would make the state as bad as the perpetrator). And then what does one to mass murderers? After all, you can only kill a person once, so the biblical idea of an eye for an eye isn't gonna work there. And why am I talking about this now?...because I'm frustrated by your lack of internet access...that's why...and oh yes...almost forgot about this bit; I'd like to order a birthday cake for Cathy's 14th birdie on January 20(it was her idea actually - as you might imagine)
ReplyDeleteI would be delighted. Just letme know if it's to be madeira, chocolate or fruit cake and give me some idea of how she would like it to be decorated - colours,theme...
ReplyDeleteAnd leave the rest to me!
Food for thought. Okay...a month's notice for initial ideas especially in that dead period after Christmas. Chocolate or Madeira for starters...she doesn't like fruit cake (but of course she hasn't tasted yours). I have three ideas for themes "Glee" (2nd series Channel 4 HD January 15)If you haven't seen series 1...make sure you do. Its funny, unselfconscious, witty, heartwarming suitably schmaltzy and very very smart - in a way High School Musical wasn't); "Westies" (a tad predictable I know - although Lily and Rose are still her pups apparently) and Vogue magazine (now there's a theme and a half...and right up your strasse I'd say). Those ideas might dictate the colours...failing that its the colour pink (as if you might not have guessed eh?)
ReplyDeleteThe Vogue theme is definitely calling out to me! Perhaps in pink and black - very stylish!
ReplyDeleteOkay..."Don't just stand there, let's get to it. Strike a pose, there's nothing to it. Vogue, vogue" - in chocolate(or albatross).
ReplyDeleteNah - albatrossessessess are extremely difficult to cover in sugarpaste - we'll stick with chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite excited about this little project. have started planning already. It'll make a nice change from Christmas cakes!
Excellent news indeed... I'm prepared to wager that this will be the best 49p (£0.49) I will spend all year. Actually Babycakes is still very poorly and we are a little worried because she's off her food, looking scrawny around the neck and shoulders and she's still on her back after 7 days. 'flu and chest infection (according to mum)the likes of which I have never seen her suffer. Whingeing and whining the likes of which I never want to hear again and such pathetic demands via mobile phone from upstairs which put the post operative slavery of the summer well into the shade. I've even changed her name to Cheryl Tweedy on my phone and it FOOLS me every time
ReplyDeleteHar har har!!!
ReplyDeleteHow disappointed you must be after that momentary disbelief and excitement!! "I'll be right there Cheryl...oh it's YOU, well you can just GET OFF THE PHONE, Cheryl might be ringing!
Seriously, it's very worrying that she's off her food. She must be poorly! Give her lots of love from us. xxx
