Most of the time the girls are fabulous...
... but, Rose is becoming absolutely paranoid about certain images on the TV. I've gone through the list before, so won't bore you with the details, but this evening, following one of her manic panics during the adverts, in which she had to confront a cow, a dog, some cartoon figures and Sean the sheep, Charles turned the set off to avoid further trauma.
I said this wasn't the answer and that we mustn't let her dictate what we watch. All well and good, but how do we stop her over-reacting all the time? Should I pick her up and remove her from the room for a period of time-out (but if I do this, Lily always goes through as well, so the effect is somewhat diminished) or do I distract her with training treats?
Seriously, we need help with this. There is nothing else that worries me about their behaviour, but this is really beginning to try our patience.

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

Ask Santa for one of those doggie sleep blindfolds. Face her away from the TV. Change your viewing habits (she loved the opera in May). Ask Santa for a doggie TV in her own room(at doggie perception level of course). Smack her about the snout when she makes a TV related fuss...she'll sharp learn. Call "Confuse-a-dog". Film her and play it back while she watches to shame her into shutting her yap. Write to Santa telling him she's been naughty not nice......AND LET HER SEE YOU DO IT! And make sure you mean it too. Send that SAM missive up the chimley as she watches...and hope that she hurts as you do when she spoils your telly.
ReplyDeleteOf course, as you might expect none of these methods are either sane or sound but may yet prove to be a welcome distraction during the next fall of snow.
