... a sugar thermometer. I've been getting by just by guessing, but think I need to be a bit more precise, especially when making frosting with dark brown sugar and milk (!) which is what I've tried my hand at this morning. It's supposed to make a lovely, caramelly frosting (with the addition of some butter and fresh cream) to a toffee cake that's in the oven now - but if it works it'll be pure chance!!
I've got two sleepyheads this morning. The girls are even too tired to be my little helpers today. That's what happens when you go to bed and then have to get up to spend an hour snuggling up with your dad when he gets home late!
Right - cakes should be done. Be back later.
