It's ne of those mornings when you wake up and wonder if the events of the day before where just a dream.
Or, to be more precise - a nightmare, followed by a dream!!
I'm going to make an enormous confession now, mostly to absolve my conscience as I feel really disapponted with myself.
I was one of the fans who walked out at half time. I KNOW, I KNOW you don't need to have a go at me, but after the fourth goal I just couldn't bear to watch any more, not because I was particularly angry with the players, but because I couldn't bear to watch their humiliation.
I do have a theory - and Charles and james will confirm this - that whenever I watch NUFC THEY WILL LOSE. When the match is on TV, I can guarantee that if I sit down to watch for a minute, the other team will immediately score. This is why we record all matches, so that my watchful presence has no influence on the result!
So, although I feel sickened with myself for ducking out and seeking refuge in retail therapy, I also think I made absolutely the right decision - because those four goals simply wouldn't have been scored if I had still been sitting in my seat, nerves jangling, heart racing and nails bitten to the quick.
I have to say, that I wandered around Eldon Square in a state of shock. In my head I imagined that the final result would see Arsenal in double figures. However, I did get an inkling that things may be chnging for the better, when I sat outside Starbucks and could hear the crowd going berserk following what could only be a goal. Again I was convinced it would be another Arsenal goal, but the volume seemed to dictate otherwise and is was with some degree of trepidation that at 5pm I approached a family wearing Newcastle scarves to ask them if they knew the final result. When they told me I was gobsmacked - and I think they were a bit too, especially as they had also left at half time and only knew the score bcause of the wonders of texting.
I have watched our goals subsequently (Tiote is an absolute hero and is almost certain therefore to be next out of the door.) and really wish I could have stuck in there and witnessed it all first hand. But, for the good of the club (and my health) it was right and fitting that I left when I did.

So...let me see if I understand this fully. Because you left at half time, Newcastle came back from 4 goals down? For if you had stayed, the Arsenal would have gone on to score double figures. You do realise that this could have enormous implications for the future of the premier league don't you. No need for half time team talks or screaming instructions from the touchline....no need for tactics or overall strategy. You could get onto the NUFC payroll if you could convince the present Toon hierarchy of the validity of this theory. I can picture the scene now...Newcastle goes a goal down...Ashley sends Sue back into the city with some readies and keeps in touch via text. BINGO! After all who would notice one more madcap idea on Barrack Road?
