Young At Heart

LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

DANNYMATT!

Hope you're going to the buffet at Croftway tomorrow. I would like your opinion of the cake!

  1. Yes I think and hope so. I'm playing some piano in the morning and afternoon to some rewritten words (you know Tim Rice's and Irving Berlin's..he he he), pushing buttons on some music I've edited together and playing piano to some more rewritten words (for Carol Leddy - Did you know she is related to me? She also taught and looked after my two boys at Kingsway Nursery way back, which I remember well and which she told the school about in the Nursery performance last week. Carol asked me if I rememebered the songs and The 3 Billy Goats Gruff performance, which of course I did - but I was very touched that she remembered my boys so fondly. They say that noone is indispensible but Carol Leddy comes pretty close. I will be eternally grateful for the start she gave my Matthew and Daniel...and she knows that. Carol is a very special and rare lady. So, yes, I will be about ready for some goodies. However, not having had a sneak preview, my cyek review (I'm from Eshington) will be "Open Kimono" baby...from the heart as ever. But as you know... those swans stole mine!

  2. My cake review:-
Okay, so the swans that once held my heart now have a serious rival and for very similar, selfish reasons. I was expecting a cake up to the usual high standard, well researched attention to detail etc ...and once again, on that level it was a marvel eg the children’s picture on the wall with the curled corner. However it turned out to be so much more on reflection, and what is more the effect took me completely by surprise. It goes beyond obvious technical ability; perfectly encapsulating as it does a vocation and this sent a shiver down my spine. I was moved by a scene, empathetically and sensitively observed by its creator, one who knows exactly how it feels to be sat there. To me, it was my Matthew and my Daniel sat there too, listening to her story. It tapped directly into my hypothalamus as a teacher and a dad and anyone who is lucky enough to work in school such as Croftway will know what I mean. Researched from experience and the heart, the cake and what it represents adds up to so much more than a retirement cake: that is... my boys and their very first teacher, Mrs. Leddy.
