WHENEVER I HEAR...

... about youngsters dying from meningitis, it makes me not only deeply sad but incredibly lucky that James got though this dreadful illness when he was three years old.

    I read about that today; how the bacteria live in the back of the nose and throat. I am frighteningly ignorant of such things....and I wonder just how many parents are the same Recognising the symptoms and not delaying treatment is crucial. The daughter of one of Charles' support staff suffered the same devastating illness at Christmas and talking to her about it really brought home the full horror. If she had delayed even minutes the consequences could have been dire. Incredibly lucky is right. There but for the grace etc...

    On a brighter note, I bet you're glad you don't have that terrible female Masterchef voiceover/commentator piped into your kitchen. Isn't she dire (as well as superfluous)? You're going to hear her how aren't you?
