Young At Heart

LILY & ROSE

Here are some photos of Lily & Rose. There are a few from the first time we saw them when they were just 4 weeks old. They would fit on your hand at this age and didn't look much like westies!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

So, I went to Morpeth ON MY OWN, and when I got back the pups hadn't destroyed the house, or become jibbering wrecks, or fought each other to the death - in fact they gave every impression of having had a nice sleep in my absence!
How much easier will my life be now!
Got chatting to one of the cashiers in the supermarket who had also been stuck in America and had also returned on Tuesday. I wonder how many people are still stranded? I know there were people that we met who had been told it would be the beginning of May before they could get a flight out!

Since I got back we've had a long walk down the lane where we met the four Samoyeds who were taking their owner for a walk. Unfortunately my girls had to go and greet them (does NOTHING intimidate you two?) which caused great excitement in the Sammy camp and when I finally persuaded Lily and Rose to move on I had a little glimpse of what looked like a failed attempt at maypole dancing as the Sammy owner tried to extricate himself from four very tangled leads. We hurried away, muttering apologies!
Last night we took the girls to the dog park where they had a good run around and met up with some other dogs. They really are very sociable little things, but no doubt one day they're going to come across a dog that isn't so keen to be greeted with their boundless enthusiasm!

  1. Good good. Now the next step will be to get them to a secure location and let them off the leash. (Good grief it sounds like I'm training the trainer)...this will be a big thing for you I imagine, but just think...dogs are ruled by their stomachs so have lots of treats in your pocket. I wouldn't be too hasty about it though but I would try it within the next 3 months or so. Dogs do love a run around

  2. Okay - will certainly give it a try, I suppose the dog park would be a good place to try as it is secure as far as I can see. On the other hand it's quite a large area, so if they don't return when called it could well take a while to round them up!
Feeling much more confident though. I think I have credited the girls with my own fears and worries, whereas in fact there is very little that phases them.
Just had the dog groomer on the phone and we're booked in for Saturday morning, so I'm pleased about that. Hopefully you'll be coming round shortly and will be able to see them with their smart new cuts!
